The New Federal Battery Rebate: Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Starting 1 July 2025, the Australian Government launched the $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program, offering a ~30% discount on batteries
What You Can Save
Up to $344 per usable kWh (based on 9.3 STCs × $37 each) in 2025, reducing gradually through 2030.
For example, an 11.5 kWh battery that costs about $13,000 could receive $4,278 off.
A average household with a 11.5 kWh battery, will save around $700 annually on their electricity bill when adding a battery to already installed solar and $1700 when installing a battery with a new solar system.
Systems must be installed between 5 kWh and 100 kWh capacity. The rebate covers only the first 50 kWh of usable capacity. Installations must meet Clean Energy Regulator and CEC requirements, and be performed by accredited installers
How SunSPOT Handles Federal Rebates in Battery Pricing
SunSPOT’s "Add a Battery" page has already built in the federal rebate into the battery cost ranges. These estimates are updated quarterly to track market trends, and federal rebates are automatically applied in the displayed pricing.
State or territory rebates are not included in SunSPOT’s estimates and may provide additional savings separately.
SunSPOT ensures you see transparent, up-to-date pricing that already factors in the federal discount, so you can make clear, confident decisions about renewable energy
